Bryce Hirschberg, Isidor Pollak

The short films Counterfeiters, directed by recent SFTV alum Bryce Hirschberg and 2012 FOF’s Best Picture winning film, and Dreams- A Trayvon Martin Story, directed by SFTV sophomore Isidor ‘Izzy’ Pollak, have been selected as part of KCET’s Annual Fine Cut Student Film Festival. KCET’s annual festival honors filmmakers from eight of LA’s film schools. Fine Cut will air each Thursday over the course of five-weeks beginning January 17, 2013 at 9 p.m. The series airs during KCET’s arts and culture series, Open Call, hosted by Suzanna Guzmán.

Tom Leach

LMU SFTV alum and current part-time faculty member, Tom Leach, has been named one of Forbes Magazine’s 30 Under 30. Forbes says of their annual list: “The young disruptors, innovators and entrepreneurs on our annual listing of the 30 under 30 are impatient to change the world. In sum they represent the entrepreneurial, creative and intellectual best of their generation.”

Barbara Broccoli

Producer and LMU alum Barbara Broccoli made The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment: Power 100 list- the issue hit stands December 5th. It’s been a big year for London-based Broccoli, who presided over the production of the 23rd James Bond film, Skyfall. Skyfall has grossed $797 million worldwide as of November 28, making it the most successful 007 flick of all time.

On the Road with America’s New Dream Team

When SFTV alumna Jenniffer Castillo (Screenwriting – M.F.A. ’11) discovered a group of undocumented youth were walking across the country in support of immigration reform and the Dream Act, she used her personal savings to document their journey.

Brian Helgeland

42: The True Story of an American Legend is currently in post-production and will be released on April 12, 2013. Written and directed by award-winning LMU alumnus Brian Helgeland ‘87, 42 tells the life story of Jackie Robinson and his history-making signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Third-year WPTV student Toni Bakal saw the trailer and said the film looks “incredible, amazing, epic.”

Alex Levy

RECA Alum Alex Levy ’03 was credited with creating an innovative workflow for music editing at Bad Robot Productions in a recent issue of CineMontage, the journal of the Motion Pictures Editors Guild. Levy’s credits include the feature films Super 8 and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol as well as the television series Alcatraz, Lost and Alias.

Sarah Nicole Jones

Sarah Nicole Jones ’09 is currently a staff writer on the new A&E hit series, Longmire. Renewed for a second season, Sarah is credited as a writer on two episodes in the inaugural 10-episode run. She was recently profiled in Criminal Element’s “The Cowboy Way: An Exclusive Interview with Longmire Staff Writer Sarah Nicole Jones.”
